Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has responded with amusement to a comedic skit created by comedian Bovi, part of the promotion for Bovi’s upcoming show in the United States.
Bovi’s skit humorously portrayed the abduction of prominent celebrities in the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Seun Kuti. In the skit, Bovi played the role of a high-ranking officer in the Nigerian Police Force responsible for negotiating the ransom and release of the ‘captives.’
During the negotiation scenario, Bovi willingly offered reasonable sums for the release of some celebrities. However, when it came to Seun Kuti, he proposed the modest amount of N250,000. The kidnapper expressed dissatisfaction with the offer, warning that any mention of the amount again would result in Seun’s immediate demise. In a lighthearted manner, Bovi persistently repeated “250, 250” with the intention of teasing the abductors into taking action.

In an Instagram live session, Seun Kuti was questioned about his thoughts on the skit and seemed unfazed by it. He praised Bovi as a funny comedian, making a subtle reference to another comedian whose name rhymes with ‘Dakun,’ alluding to Ayo Makun, with whom Seun had a recent online altercation.
Seun clarified that Bovi had obtained permission from him before creating the comedic skit, showcasing the amicable understanding between the two entertainers.
