Nigerian comedian and content creator, Debo “Mr. Macaroni” has taken to his Facebook page to share a deeply personal and inspiring message about his struggles over the past few years. Known for his comedic skits and activism, Mr. Macaroni broke his usual silence on personal matters to offer his community a glimpse into the challenges he has faced, his mistakes, and the lessons he has learned.
In the heartfelt post, Mr. Macaroni began by explaining that he typically keeps his personal struggles private, but felt compelled to share his journey in hopes that others could learn from his experience. “I only wish to share this with my community because I want people to learn from my experience,” he wrote, explaining that despite the many trials, he felt it was important to publicly acknowledge the grace of God in his life.
He revealed that in 2021 and 2022, he fell victim to both a scam and a failed investment that cost him all the savings he had at the time. Despite this setback, he kept his struggles to himself, as he did not want to burden others with his issues. As a trained Thespian, Mr. Macaroni adopted the mindset that “the show must go on,” continuing to entertain, educate, and uplift others through his art while quietly dealing with the weight of his financial challenges.
The situation worsened when he began borrowing money to cover outstanding debts and responsibilities, and he soon realized that he was merely using his earnings to pay off interest rather than making meaningful progress. “Please don’t borrow money! But if you must, please be responsible,” he urged his followers, acknowledging his own financial recklessness and offering advice to others who might find themselves in similar circumstances.
In his candid reflection, Mr. Macaroni admitted to being financially irresponsible, stating that he has always been generous to a fault, sometimes giving away money meant for his own needs. “I would give out my Breakfast, lunch and if possible dinner,” he confessed. He explained that while he had always believed his blessings were meant to be shared, he realized that even generosity must be practiced responsibly.

The comedian’s struggles reached their peak in 2024, a year that also marked a turning point in his career. Despite his financial troubles, he received recognition for his performances in two international films, solidifying his place in the industry. However, the year was also filled with emotional turbulence as he battled a debt of over half a billion naira and dealt with a painful betrayal by someone he considered a close friend and sister.
Despite the setbacks, Mr. Macaroni shared that he was determined to rise above it all. “One thing about me is that I’m a warrior! I have never backed down from a fight,” he wrote, encouraging his followers to keep going despite hardships. He expressed gratitude for the support of his family and friends, noting that with their help, he felt more optimistic than he had in years.
In his closing words, Mr. Macaroni sent a message of love and perseverance to his followers, urging them not to give up, no matter the obstacles they face. “People will betray you but you must not let that derail you,” he emphasized. “You are alive for a reason, and every day of your life, you must fight to be a better person than you were yesterday.”
His post concluded with a reminder that making mistakes is part of life, but it is crucial not to repeat them. “May the love in our hearts be forever greater than the hate, betrayal and wickedness in the world,” he wrote, leaving a message of hope and resilience for anyone going through their own struggles.
The post has since resonated deeply with his fans, many of whom have praised Mr. Macaroni for his vulnerability and strength in sharing such personal details of his life. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and the value of learning from life’s challenges.
